Practices

2024 Practice Schedule

  • Mondays & Thursdays

  • 6:00pm - 8:00pm

  • Locations vary from Corner Canyon, Park City, Snowbird, Eagle Mountain, and Butterfield Canyon

Ride Groups

  • At the start of the season, the team holds a time-trial where each rider is timed riding the same course.  The team uses the results to place riders into one of 13 ride groups where they can ride with peers that have similar speeds and abilities.

  • Each ride group is led / swept by at least two adult ride leaders who have been trained and background-checked by the league.

Bike Recommendations

Most ride a hardtail or full suspension XC bike.  If you need a bike, but are unsure what to look for, check out the specs and features of the below bikes, both of which are more than adequate for the team.  These bikes are only included as a reference for researching components, sizing, and prices.  (Note: Trek is a league sponsor and riders can receive a discount on most Trek mountain bikes.  Contact a coach for more details.)  The cost for a new bike will be around $1,200.  Once you know what features to look for, purchasing a used bike is an excellent option and can save a lot of money.

Trek X-Caliber (hardtail)

Trek Top Fuel (full suspension)

Many who are new to mountain biking ask what they should avoid when looking to purchase a bike.  We hesitate to answer this question because we don't want to discourage anyone from participating with the team.  The best bike to ride is the bike that is accessible to you!  In our experience, however, we have found that bikes with 26-inch wheels, 3x drivetrains (3 chainrings in the front), or enduro / downhill bikes are at a slight disadvantage when compared to the above examples.  Features such as carbon fiber frames and dropper posts are great but aren't required (and increase costs).
